sunday morning musings (014)
- We had an impromptu covid-friendly get together on Monday this week and I couldn’t recommend it more. The one benefit of this crazy time is that in some respect, every day feels like the weekend. So, why even bother saving the “parties” for the actual weekend? Anything goes these days…
- At said “party,” I was introduced to “my cookie dealer” cookies, and oh my God… I can’t even explain to you how freakin’ delicious they were! They apparently have a cult following and there is a method to the madness of trying to order them. But I can tell you that they are 100% worth it! We are having them again this weekend (thank you, MT!!!) and I will be +100 pounds in no time.
- Ryan and I are genuinely considering biting the bullet and buying a Peloton. I know it seems totally crazy. But! I was paying for a gym membership almost exclusively to use this bike, and don’t see myself setting foot in a gym any time soon. Plus, once we pay it off we’d own it (obviously) so it seems almost kind of logical? It’s a huge purchase but also something that we’d definitely benefit from… If we can figure out where to put it in our apartment I really think we might do it!
- This tweet sent me into a fit of laughter.
- Mom and I ventured out to Costco this week and it felt so GOOD to be out in a store. Even in a mask. Even while hesitating before touching anything. Even with the plexiglass everywhere and all the “limit one” rules. I hadn’t been inside a store since March until last week, so it really felt like shopping on another planet. And even with all the weirdness, it still brought some semblance of normalcy that I hadn’t realized I needed. I know we all keep saying this, but, what weird times we’re living in? It’s impossible not to think about.
- I’m sorry, but you have to be an absolute LUNATIC to go to Disney World right now. I cannot even wrap my head around the fact that enough people thought that opening Disney World in FLORIDA (!) a hot spot (!) was a good enough idea that it’s actually happening!!! Just absolutely mind-boggling.
- In other exciting news we got a joint bank account this week! This is something we talked about when we first moved in together, but then got in a routine of relying on Venmo for most things and it fell by the wayside. We took the plunge this week and did it, and it feels almost as official as the ring does! 😂
- And in a similar vein – I am working on writing up a post about our whole engagement day! I planned for it to be the post for this past week, but I want to make sure to get it right and not rush it. So I pushed it off one more week and hopefully I can get it together and post it on Wednesday-ish this coming week. I know some of you (Nana 😇) are chomping at the bit for it, so just sit tight a few more days – I promise it’s coming.
- Craft beer lovers!!! Our Brooklyn favorite, Other Half Brewing, introduced a beer collaboration in March in an effort to raise money for those in the hospitality industry affected by COVID-19. This week they posted on Instagram that over 850 breweries participated and made their version of “All Together” and raised over $1 million for the cause. And this is the total with only 275 of the 850+ reporting so far! Just reading about it makes my heart all warm and fuzzy, and craving a cold one. It looks like Other Half is brewing one more batch of this specific beer if you want to try and get your hands on it.
- Lastly, I have been toying with the idea of starting to work on some recipes to post here. Mostly just simple things like cocktails and maybe some healthy-ish lunches/snacks for now while I dip my toes into testing recipes (?) This sounds professional, but trust me, it won’t be at all. Is this something you would be interested in?! And if yes, is there anything specific you want to see? Let me know!!
Hope you all are enjoying the weekend and getting some sun! Happy Sunday! 🌞
with love, jak
lots of scattered thoughts here

i think peloton or at home gym maybe the way of the future. Ive been using my parents bike at the house and I’ve been loving it.
and YES bring on all the recipes
okay bye bye for now
Cookie dealer is linked in the post (I know it’s kind of hard to see – I’m working on making it more obvious when I link to stuff!) But you can also go to their site http://www.mycookiedealer.com. Also YAY, glad you’re into the recipes. I am excited to add some to the repertoire.
Ooh love the feel of normalcy 😊
Joint bank accounts…. I remember that feeling well …. it feels so grown up eh! I love it 🥰
As for recipes …. absolutely…. Maisie has been baking like crazy – everything on her own (except tidying up ). This week was cupcakes with real strawberries, strawberry coulis piped in & and Real strawberries mixed into the buttercream On top – wow , it was very cool!!!she would love to see your recipes (I’d love the cocktails 😜)
SO grown up!! I love that she is baking so much – those cupcakes sound delish. I am definitely going to start incorporating some baking stuff (and plenty of cocktails- not to worry!) Thanks for the feedback as always Des ❤️
First joint purchase of the joint bank account = Peloton. I’m not one for math, but that seems to add up!
HAHAH I think I like your logic! Stay tuned, we just maaaay do it soon(ish) 😎
Please post recipes!!! If you want to start with cocktails I think there are definitely ways we can experiment with White Claws and vodka and fresh fruit….just saying…but also please post a pie recipe so I can finally use the frozen pie crust that’s been in my fridge.
Weekend plans, perhaps?! Cocktails and pie on the lake… I can think of nothing more enjoyable 🍰
Also, thank you for your perseverance.
make the pie crust from scratch ….so much better and not hard at all to do….love and miss you xoxo
I always take the easy way out and do a graham cracker crust 🙂
your mom bought a pie cookbook years ago ….still have it ….was on a pie making kick when I first married Uncle Craig many moons ago
Chomping at the bit is right. Joint bank account is wonderful.
