1. Can somebody invent an app that lets you hum a song and it tells you what it is? I have had the same song stuck in my head for three days and don’t know any of the words so I can’t look it up!
  2. Have you ever noticed how much forsythia is in your neighborhood? I hadn’t ever, but I can’t stop seeing it everywhere now.
  3. I have been writing up a post on my experience attempting to file for unemployment since I was laid off almost three weeks ago now. I’m waiting to actually be able to complete my claim before I publish the post, but why bother when this is literally my life now. Just read this one instead since I am apparently never getting through.
  4. How many pairs of sweatpants are you rotating between? I’ve got three, a pair of leggings and a pair of mom jeans that I wear for 20 minutes every 6 or so days before I get uncomfortable and change.
  5. I had a dream this week that my mom (with whom I’ve been getting along with very well considering I’ve all but moved my stuff back home after being moved out for the last year and a half) told me to go f*ck myself. As an aside, the first and only time my mom has ever cursed at me I was 17 years old (deserved it) and I cried. Any dream analyzers want to take a shot at what that means?
  6. Blown away by @annestreetstudio’s #isolationcreation project. Watching the stories of her putting together these still lifes (lives?) are honestly a highlight of my day.
  7. Can’t stop laughing at this cartoon. The serial “!” in professional emailing is real.
  8. This weekend a casual “zoom with the girls” turned into a high school reunion. All of a sudden it was 1am and new people (from hs!) kept joining our call. Maybe seems like a nightmare for some people, but was honestly so much fun. Definitely worked to get me out of my quarantine-funk.
  9. It’s the earliest by far, but we opened our pool yesterday! I keep referring to it as the swamp, because that’s exactly what it looks like right now. But I have to say it’s an instant mood booster to look out in the backyard and see the water instead of the pool cover. A little reminder that summer will come, along with better days.
  10. Confession – I’ve fallen down the TikTok rabbit hole and I’m ashamed. I almost lost it watching this one. My advice? Stop resisting it, we need all the laughs we can get right now.

Also wanted to wish you a Happy Easter! I know this is not the way any of us thought we’d be celebrating, but here’s to pouring extra large glasses of wine and doing something special with you Quarantiners today. We are having a zoom call with our usual Easter guests and having dinner al fresco. What are your special Easter plans? Wishing you a happy one.

with love,

JAK
