sunday morning musings (015)
- Last week Ry and I dug into the pierogis we had frozen in our freezer since Christmas. Mom and I make them (from scratch, a true labor of love) every year and this year I packed some up and took them back to Brooklyn. Now that we are finally back in our apartment part time, we have been cooking with what very little food we have left in there. So we pulled these out and all I could think about while we were making them was “imagine if I knew when we were rolling these out and filling them that we’d be eating them during a pandemic?” Christmas feels like a lifetime ago but just last month all at the same time.
- Speaking of Christmas! HA! I know, I know relax… but last weekend we were talking about starting Christmas shopping extra, extra early this year and ordering stuff online when stores are having major sales. This is something I tell myself I’m going to do every. single. year. And guess how many times I’ve done it? 0. Maybe this will be the year? It would make my life 1000x easier come December. Plus I just shudder to think where the world could be by then. Ugh.
- My Etsy shop hit 50 sales this week!!!! See also: I love you guys so very much. And special thanks to Krissy B, your order was lucky #50! ❤️
- Don’t laugh at me but I SWEAR I am back on the diet this week. It was a great two weeks of justifying every single thing that passed my lips with the fact that we were “celebrating!!!” But it’s over and I am back on track. I snacked on cherries for a good portion of this week and they are so delish right now! You are missing out if you haven’t had any yet.
- Uhhh did you guys hear about the leak in the Lincoln Tunnel this week? Cannot even imagine how much I would have panicked if I witnessed this! It is legitimately my worst nightmare and something I think about almost anytime I’m in a tunnel. And it came true… 2020 really is ON one, huh?
- In much more exciting (and positive) news for my LI readers, did you see that Billy Joel was seen playing a piano left out on the sidewalk in Huntington?! Is there anything better than celebrities acting like regular people? I think not. Betcha that piano was adopted by someone real quick after this!
- Mom’s garden is overflowing with cucumbers and we literally can’t eat them all fast enough. Thinking that’s something we might dip our toes into this week. Does anyone have any tips on recipes/methods/types? Taking any and all advice for making the best pickles! And thank you, JS, for the wonderful suggestion.
- This tik tok was the cutest thing I’ve seen in a while. I fell down a rabbit hole of watching all the videos like this one and couldn’t stop laughing every time she opened the windows! I have to say, I fully support using your kids for funny videos, especially during times like these. There’s nothing better than a cute toddler induced laugh.
- If 2020 were a still life drawing…
- We spent this weekend visiting Courtney and Jordan at Jordan’s lake house in NJ and had the loveliest time!!! We relaxed, played board games, ate too much, day drank and floated in tubes on the lake all day. AND Ryan and I went out on the lake in kayaks (a summer bucket list item!!) – which I loved more than I could have possibly been prepared for. Not that there was any doubt in my mind, but lake life is the best life.
Hope you guys managed to stay cool this weekend during the heat wave (!!!)
with love, JAK
So honored to be #50!!
Lucky to have you Krissy!! ✌🏻
I think the olympics getting cancelled this year is a blessing in disguise. It gives you an extra year to try and make the US kayak team! And thanks so much for visiting!! Pls come back asap, we have much more lake to explore.
Also, I think I’m pretty good at getting my Christmas shopping done early, but earlier in the year (like now) I keep a note in my phone with everyone I buy for and ideas for what I can get them. So if I see something they would like or they mention something I just add it to my list and it makes the whole shopping experience much much easier. It does feel kind of creepy but ultimately everyone wins!!!
Honestly you are so RIGHT. I’ll have to put my application in asap and then we’ll be back every weekend for me to train. Please let Jordan know!!!! (But for really real, we can’t wait to come back.)
As per your Christmas shopping suggestions – this is something I actually started this year! Great to know that it will work out if I can keep to it and make it happen. Excellent advice.
