sunday morning musings (019)
- I can’t believe that I’m about to say this, but I might be almost ready for fall this year? Usually I am absolutely dreading the end of summer, but since this summer has been such fake news, I am ready to give it up and move on in hopes of a better year in 2021. Is anyone else feeling that? Am I just bitter because our pool is empty?!
- All this walking I’ve been doing has turned me into a hat girl. Never in a million years did I think I’d be someone who wore hats on errands, but here we are. The year is 2020 and all the rules have gone completely out the window. I’m wearing hats and not wearing makeup – I don’t even know this girl anymore.
- My favorite New Yorker cartoon of the week: I’ve never related more.
- Book club finally finished our read through the entire Twilight series in preparation for Midnight Sun this week. I can’t believe it, but I actually hadn’t known how it ended?! I had never read or watched Breaking Dawn so it was a totally new experience for me and I could not have loved it more. I am officially a 26 year old, first time, Twilight groupie. And I love it. Now I cannot WAIT to sink my teeth into Midnight Sun, omg!
- Definitely not health food, but this spaghetti with creamy lemon sauce looks amazing. Lemon pasta is something I was introduced to when we first moved to Brooklyn at one of our favorite neighborhood spots and now I have to order it whenever it’s on the menu. It’s the most surprisingly delicious dish!
- Question! How many of you guys have been tested for COVID-19 and/or antibodies? And how awful was it? We are ~potentially~ going on a trip with friends next week and are thinking about getting tested before we go. Kind of horrified thinking about that swab just swirling around up my nose, but also would love the peace of mind before we’re on the road. I’ve been back and forth about it non-stop for the last week!
- Lost it over this TikTok – using the oven really be like that sometimes.
- Anyone planning on shopping the Sephora Summer Sale?! I feel like this is definitely something new they’re doing this year because I don’t remember a mid-summer sale in the past. But definitely not mad about it! The sale is running until 8/23 and is giving you $15 of $75 or $20 off $100 –– the perfect time to stock up on some of your essentials.
- We had our Prospect Park picnic yesterday and it was the most Brooklyn thing ever. We lucked out and it ended up being the nicest day – not too hot, but still sunny! We brought a little cheese plate and some cocktails, our current reads, and a blanket and had the nicest day. Not to mention our to-go Pina Coladas for the (longer than we thought) walk there. Another thing crossed off the summer bucket list– I just wish we lived closer to the park so we could do this more often, and more on a whim!
- And TODAY we skipped dinner (and lunch actually, whoops) in favor of a walk around our neighborhood and two scoops of ice cream. Some days just call for lounging around in pajamas, napping on and off and eating ice cream for dinner. Adulting isn’t all bad.
Happy Sunday, friends! Wishing you a week full of happiness.
with love, jak
I have not been tested however my friend Jill is a nurse at the testing center and she says don’t move or tense up because it makes it a lot worse🤷🏼♀️
Ps I’m a little sad something important is missing from 10
Good to know!! Also HAHA, to be honest the incident happened after the post was already published.
But in the notion of full transparency… we ordered McDonalds at 10:00 at night OKAY!!!?!
I have so much to say to all of this:
1. Bring on the fall, but most importantly BRING ON THE SWEATERS
2. I want so desperately to be a hat girl (I look amazing in hats) but it does not work with my half pony/half bun lifestyle
4. Twilight is the greatest gift we’ve all ever been given. I CANNOT wait to wait Breaking Dawn Part 2 with you.
6. I have not been tested but Lily has twice, with two different tests and said (paraphrasing): it was not enjoyable by any means but she would do it again.
8. I went to Sephora dot com to spend mad $$$ yesterday before I even realized there was a sale. I am proud to say I only participated in the spend $75 threshold and did not make it to $100.
This immediately made me think of the Blue Sweater ™️
My hair is a full disaster on “hat days” but it’s fine because I just never take it off.
Ty, Lily for the info!!!
You are right.
And can’t wait to hear about your Sephora purchases… proud to know you.
So anyway…
Pool liner is ordered,
pinned the recipe,
I can relate to the tiktok, omg haha!
And remember girlie, there are no rules in Brooklyn!
Love, Mom
YAY!!! To the pool liner. What a way to let me know 😉
Funny, I said the same thing as I was eating my ice cream the other night. xo
